How would you clean a cowboy hat?
Q. My neighbor has a felt cowboy hat that has a stain on it. What could you use to remove the stain? He doesn't want to dry clean it.
Asked by karen c - Wed Jun 20 17:40:43 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Being a Texas gal, I have lots of cowboy hats. This is what I do to keep them looking their best: Loosen dirt and dust with a soft brush, gently brushing in the same counterclockwise direction around the crown and the brim. Use a light touch when cleaning felt: Scrubbing can leave bald spots on the hat. If you find grease spots, pat a bit of cornstarch over the area and let sit for several hours or until the grease is absorbed, then brush off. To erase rain spots on a light tan hat, try a felt-cleaning sponge (sold at hat stores). Store the hat upside down on its crown in a hat box, so the brim doesn't flatten. Never place a hat near a radiator or lamp -- excessive heat can shrink the sweatband.

Any ideas on how to decorate my boy's room into a cowboy theme?
Q. My son is 10 but he likes cowboy stuff. He has a cowboy hat, clothes, and a rope. Any ideas on how to tie in a cowboy theme into his bedroom. I don't want anything too baby-ish. Something he can grow into his teenage years. Also, what paint colors would look good with this theme?
Asked by 2boys mommy - Mon Jul 3 18:51:08 2006 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Think denim and bandanas. Bedding with those types of fabric would look good, and would age well. A denim colored comforter with red bandana pillows, for example. A throw with large spots (that look like a paint horse) would be a nice touch. If you're into textured paint, there's a great technique that produces a linen finish (using a wallpaper brush). If you do one wall in a lighter blue and then a darker blue over it, the brush will expose hints of the lighter color beneath and it will look like denim. For a really inexpensive way to display the hat and rope, hang a couple of decorative hooks (the kind that screw into the wall). Look for something that's weathered metal or wrought iron. You can find them at your local hardware store… [cont.]

A. Nothing is going to break, we will handle them, just like the other teams did. I believe Cowboys fans recognize the wagon jumpers, and so does the fans that have been here on a reg. basis.

Q. Hey everyone. I am going to purchase some cowboy boots. I was wondering how much different cowboy boot sizes were from regular shoe sizes. I bought my last pair a size smaller than my shoe. I where a 8 in Womens.. so do you think i should get a 7 in boots?? Thanks so much.
Asked by Kassie - Mon Aug 10 00:04:12 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It get's complicated, but it all begins with: There is no difference in sizes between boots and shoes. They are all built on their own proprietary 'lasts' (molds for feet), and no two vendors use the same 'lasts'. However, you should be measured on a Brannock Device, and use that as a starting point. If the boot you like has narrower toes, then you *might* need a 1/2 size bigger than what you measure. A high arch/instep can mean the same thing. People usually get a shoe that's too big because they can lace it tighter, because no sales person is there to help size them, and because some brands of shoes are built on smaller lasts. Boots are more demanding of a proper fit since there are no laces to help you adjust the fit. The arch of… [cont.]

A. In the original graphic novel, a skull faced specter shows up a few times to torment Eric in dream like scenes. For example, there's a scene on a train where Eric looks out the window and sees a horse caught in barbed wire. The crow appears on his seat and says "Shouldn't have looked, boy." The skull faced being appears and says "Tickets, please." Later he shows up while Eric is recalling his life with Shelly. Shelly dies and the skull specter appears in a sort of cowboy duster. The crow says "Nice suit, eh kid? The skull really has no purpose other than to represent death and mocking. In the film, the Skull Cowboy was apparently intended as an additional guide, but deleted because Proyas thought him redundant. Eric has… [cont.]

How do you break in cowboy boots?
Q. I got these cowboy boots from my friend and they aren't new but haven't been broken-in in a few years and are a little tight. What can I do to make them easier to get on and more comfortable? The lady that gave them to me said that if I put them on, wet the outside of them and wore them around, it would stretch them some. Is this true? Or is it the best way?

Can a rattlesnake bite through leather cowboy boots?
Q. If I go rattle snake searching and wear my leather cowboy boots and snake-bite proof leggins, can the snakes fangs penetrate my boots? I'm not talking the sole of the shoe, Im talking about the rest of it. Please sight your sources so i may follow up on this.

A. If you are wearing "snake-bite proof leggins" (as you mentioned), over your boots, no, the fangs will not touch your boots. Even if they did, they wouldn't be able to penetrate through your boot as well. I don't mess around after a six foot eastern diamondback bit through the outer tire and inner tubing of my mountain bike while I was trying to get him out of the road. I put the bike in between because I was wearing shorts and no shoes. And I was looking for a good stick (yes, true story). I used to wear U.S. army leggings over leather cowboy boots (very awkward and uncomfortable). Here is what I wear now (the best in my opinion). A. I think that accessories that are to "matchy matchy" look like you're trying too hard. I like to mix it up. Just make sure the styles match (like a casual belt and hat with casual shoes). A fancy hat and beat-up shoes might not match so good.

Asked by mesamac - Sat Sep 2 21:18:14 2006 - - 22 Answers - 0 Comments

A. They make a nice thick sock called boot socks. I recommend those. I would get some that go up my leg the length of the boot. As to color, get something that matches what you're wearing and/ or matches the boots, in case the tops of the socks stick out a little above the top of the boot. Enjoy the awesome boots! As to socks...they're not just socks! Your feet will get hot and sweaty. Socks absorb the sweat. Hot sweaty feet ruin "shoes" faster and are bad for your feet, as well. I knew several real cowboys in college (went to college in a small ranching town), and they did not scoff at taking care of one's self at all. Take care of your feet, and they'll take care of you. Wear socks for comfort in boots, as well as for the health of… [cont.]

Asked by RODEO AND HOCKEY ARE AMAZING! - Fri Aug 21 02:16:38 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Liberty is correct. The fit is the most important thing, and not the brand. I would agree that lacers are the better choice, since if you (or when you) break a bone in your foot the boots can be removed instead of cut off. If you opt for the pullons, just make sure they fit snugly. A little slip in the heel is normal, but it shouldn't be excessive. (1/2 inch or so).
